“The poetry of everyday life.”
Working around the world
Working in out-of-the-way locations, or in his studios on the island of Catalina, California and Key West, Florida. Ernesto Rodriguez documents and reinvents the world whose charms are all too quickly disappearing.

Biography
The grandson of the renowned Cuban muralist Eraso Valor Rodriguez, Ernesto learned early how an artist expresses his vision with brush and pigment, passion and joy.
He was a child when the family left Cuba. More that 30 years would past before he returned.
"I went back to find what had influnced me" he says. "The experiences that shape your formative years color the way you perceive the world, even after you've forgotten them.
In Cuba, Ernesto found the romance, the sensual colors, that give his work an Old World charme.
"We Americans live in a fast-paced culture that leaves little time for natural rhythems. We don't stop to notice, much less appreciate, the dance of sunlight and shadow on leaves...lace curtains stirring in a kitchen window...the music that flows in the conversation of lovers...the easy laughter of friends. Cuba is attuned to those rhyhms, that romance." he says. "The sensuality they celebrate belongs to each of us. It is the poetry of everyday life."

Vision
"I like to see things as they should be, not as they are. My art is in capturing places where people wish they could be, and tranforming them into scenes that welcome the viewer. Mine are places that people dream of seeing, almost as though they were memories."
